An Apology to Our Marriage License Applicants
We sincerely apologize to the couples who visited our Marriage License Department first thing Monday morning, 9/21/2026, and were unable to be served due to remodeling improvements taking place in our office. Our department began serving customers at approximately 8:45.
We understand that obtaining a marriage license is an important and exciting part of your wedding plans, and we regret the inconvenience and disappointment this unexpected disruption caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our facilities and better serve our community.

Certification of Records
This is typically for couples marrying outside the United States of America. This is a form certified by one of our clerks, stating that a person has never been issued a Marriage License in Hamilton County. First, we gather information from the person. Then, we look for that person in our records and verify they have never been issued a license from Hamilton County.
Procedure
You can only have this form certified by applying in-person, with government issued photo ID (i.e., Driver's License, State ID, passport, VISA, etc.) . The fee is $5.00. Cash or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover only) are accepted.
In an attempt to make your visit to our office quicker and more efficient we have provided a PDF version that can be filled out, printed, and then brought to our office to assist when the clerk completes the form for certification.
